My friend Sladjana got these as a present... how scary is that! What they won't put on underwear (and of course she didn't have a clue what it said... so nice opportunity to share!) Posted by Picasa

English fun...

Last Tuesday night, I started up our English Club again (after breaking from December) and we had a decent turn-out with 6 people coming. We have another 6 saying that they want to come, so if everyone came it would actually be too many, as it is just me running it! It is just conversational English, but we will be going through a shortened form of "Emma" by Jane Austen and watching the movie at the end.

I am also trying to teach Ljilja and our friend Dragana English - they are at a more elementary level, so it is a bit harder...but just as fun! This past week we were going over the parts of the body - I was pointing out parts of my body and they were saying what each of them were... I pointed to my "hips" and instead of saying "hips" both of them in one voice said "lovely handles" [okay I am to blame - I taught Ljilja "love handles" and one day she got it wrong and called them "lovely handles" and I thought that was more appropriate and so it has now stuck:-) ]. So never a dull day in English teaching...

Snjesko Bijelic

Well it is snowing again, so we decided to make the most of it and make a snowman. Here are Ljilja and Sladjana with our "Snjesko Bijelic". Sladjana is a friend of Ljilja's and is staying with us for a couple of days until she finds a place to stay... Posted by Picasa

This is Ljilja and I and Snjesko - and yes we had a BIG snowball fight after this... Posted by Picasa

Let it snow...

I tried posting this on Sunday night (which is when I took them), but it didn't work - so am trying again...

These photos are taken out of my front door at about 10pm, and at 7.30 pm there was NO snow... By morning there was over a foot, but despite snowing all day Monday, it didn't get much worse than that... Now it is just "sad snow" by the side of the road, with nothing to do with itself, and just annoying when you want to go anywhere...

Anyway, I love the way it looks on the trees when it is freshly fallen - if it only just fell on the trees and not down below - so we wouldn't have to deal with it at all when driving or walking... Posted by Picasa

Aren't we beautiful??

This is a pic of us at our YWAM meetings. There are still about another 8 YWAMers that weren't at the meetings. Carmelita (our Central European leader) is the one standing. Don, our YWAM Bosnia Director is the one in front on the right. Most of the rest come from Sarajevo - except for Janet (my colleague - in blue) and Stacey (the guy in grey in front of me), who is in Zenica. We had a good time together (it is generally held that if you put YWAMers in a room altogether, that we will have a fun time!). Posted by Picasa

YWAM Meetings...

Well, last week passed in a whirl of meetings as Carmelita Clarke, the YWAM Central European leader was here visiting us in Banja Luka. First, my colleague, Janet and I had two days of meetings, and then on Thursday the rest of YWAM Bosnia (well 9 of them - not all were able to come) came to stay the night with Janet (who had all the guys!) and me (7 of us were in my house for the night - luckily I have a GREAT landlady and roommate who puts up with lots of guests!) and have meetings on Friday...

Once I get a pic from the person who took it (we decided to only take one pic!) I will post it so you can see our ugly mugs... One of the cool things about putting a group of YWAMers in a room is that we tend to have a great time, so even though they are serious meetings, we do have a lot of fun!

Funny story from the restaurant where we had lunch- the poor waiter was a bit overwhelmed by the 12 of us all speaking English and was trying to listen in to try and figure out what we wanted. We asked Janet (who knows the restaurant well) what she recommended, and she said "well anything, except the Cabonara, as it wasn't good when I had it once". So we all repeat "Cabonara", "Cabonara" - and then the waiter comes to ask for our orders and says to me "well I heard you all saying "Cabonara" so I assumed that you wanted to order that, and as it takes a long time to cook, I warned the kitchen". Anyway, it was quite interesting trying to explain to him that it was mentioned because we DIDN'T want it!
